Sarah Vernetti

I’m Sarah Vernetti, a freelance writer and avid traveler based in Las Vegas, Nevada.

I first fell in love with travel as a college student thanks to a study abroad program in Italy and Germany. After returning home, I completed my undergraduate degree at the University of Missouri before moving on to earn a Master’s degree in art history at the University of Kansas.

Since then, my travels have taken me to destinations around the globe, but the best adventures always seem to happen in my own backyard, the American Southwest. Some of my regional favorites include Valley of Fire State Park, the Phoenix area (especially if it’s time for spring-training baseball), and Death Valley National Park.

When I’m not on the road, I love hiking in the desert and spending time with my husband and daughter. We’ve called Las Vegas home for almost five years.

My writing has appeared in over 50 different publications, including magazines, digital publications, literary journals, anthologies, websites, and blogs. In addition to covering travel-related topics, I also write about history, parenting, technology, great food, and interesting people.

For me, the most exciting thing about being a writer is that every assignment is different. I’ve had the opportunity to interview philanthropists, teachers, artists, and celebrity chefs. I’ve reviewed everything from movies to hotels. No matter what it is I’m writing about though, one thing remains constant: I’m always learning something new.

In my free time, I enjoy writing flash fiction. My stories can be found in Boston Literary Magazine, 300 Days of Sun, Eunoia ReviewFoliate Oak, Microfiction Monday MagazineNanoism, Postcard Shorts, 101 Fiction, Black Denim Lit, and Vending Machine Press, among others.
